I’m Big in Russia July 1st, 2009

Did some Google searching and found that some of my work was presented at a conference in Russia. Apparently alongside discussing technology, the internet, and Susan Boyle (??). I’m still confused on this, but the focus was on the ASRD Wi-Fi Sneaker project I developed years back that seems to keep resurfacing. You can read more about the Russian Internet Forum Conference at PBS’s (yes that TV network) “Idea Lab” website

Riding Backwards July 1st, 2009

Had a day off today so I decided to make the most of it and go for long ride followed by a trip to the skatepark. Trying to ride fakie on a single-speed road bike was the goal today and it was a bit harder than anticipated. I could hit a quarterpipe and roll back a few feet, but trying to spin the bike around was another story altogether. If peeps can do them on 29′ers I figure it’s possible. New challenge for the summer.

In the Mail Today: Oakley Jupiters June 10th, 2009

Got my pair of Oakley Jupiters in the mail today, I decided to go with the Polished Clear/Violet Iridium lens colorway for a change (also a throwback to one of the original Oakley Frogskins colorway that in my opinion was the hottest). These glasses themselves are throwbacks, as they are positioned to be the “2009 updated version” of the Frogskins. Get on these before the next guy cause they’re slept on. Shout out to all the people that helped with this along the way!

More Cranky Ridin’ June 8th, 2009

Updated some work for the Cranky Riders at my Behance Portfolio.
Clothing and Fixed-gear bike concept.

Me x adidas Originals: ZX 700 June 1st, 2009

When I was in New York, I had the opportunity to do up a pair of ZX 700’s at the adidas Originals store in SoHo. These are the result. I’m working my way up from all-black sneakers and adding a bit of color to the mix.

Forsummer™ May 31st, 2009

I’ve decided to put Forsnowboarding™ on temporary hiatus for the Summer months. Given the fact that this is North America’s offseason, it’s a good opportunity to build on the creative content and direction that the site will go into for the future. It’ll be up again with regular updates this Fall when the time is right. Until then the Forsnowboarding™ Twitter account is still going to be active with updates and news on the everything art & design related in snowboarding.

New Kicks: Vans Fixed Gear Authentics May 31st, 2009

Picked up some new sneakers to rock this summer, happen to be ones that I can also wear on the bike. Vans are known for their skateboarding shoes, but have also crossed over to fixed-gear bike circles as one of the choice sneakers to wear. I can’t complain, these are clean and have two of my favorite elements every sneaker should have: 3M reflective accents and ripstop nylon. And they’re black. A+

More Sneaker Design May 25th, 2009

Putting a spin on some New Balances. I haven’t had this much creative fun in a long time.

Forsnowboarding™ is Positive May 21st, 2009

So it’s been a couple months since I’ve launched Forsnowboarding™
and much to my surprise (given the fact that we launched in the offseason) we’ve been
getting a lot of positive return. Our Twitter family @forsnowboarding is nearing 300 people deep.
We’re getting a good response from the industry, and a lot of interesting projects are on the horizon.
Not bad for a one person operation, with everything done in-house.

So if you haven’t checked it out already, visit Forsnowboarding™

Dope Gear I’m Feelin’: Oakley Jupiter May 18th, 2009

There’s a lot of heritage behind these Oakley Jupiter sunglasses.
They’re an updated version of the popular Oakley Frogskins from the 80’s, which
are seeing a lot of hype lately due to their return.

I won’t lie, I’m all over these right now, and they are sporting some of the vintage
colorways that the Frogskins had back in the day.

Still trying to decide between the 24k gold version, and the clear/violet one.
Oakley help me out!

686 May 6th, 2009

Got a package in the mail today from snowboard brand 686.
Hooked up with all the stickers my decks can take, plus some metallic icons for the car GTI style.
Big thanks to all my friends at 686 for the love.

New York City May 6th, 2009

Been in New York City for the past while, lots of things going down over there.
Namely Air Force One fly-overs and the H1N1 virus. Amidst all this I was still able
to hit up some spots and cop some new gear. NSW 3M Yankees shirt and some other great stuff.

Computer Arts Projects April 7th, 2009

So I was featured in Issue 122 of Computer Arts Projects magazine.
I took part in a designer’s challenge that had me design a sticker sheet for promotional use.
The work that I submitted was actually my second idea, after the first one fell though.
It’s a sticker-based calendar that had multiple uses, and ended up being stronger in
concept so I ran with it.

Check it out in this month’s issue.

In The Mail Today: Nothing April 2nd, 2009

Still waiting for all those mysterious PR care packages to arrive in the mail.
Maybe they’ve gone missing. So brands, if you weren’t aware, get in touch with me ASAP for my
address and sizing.

Forsnowboarding™ Launches March 23rd, 2009

I’ve been working on this project for the last 4 months and I’m pleased to say that it’s
finally ready for launch. It’s a lifestyle-based site that focuses on the design aspect of
snowboarding and snowboard culture. Hopefully it brings some light to this subject
because it’s definitely something that I was very interested in when I started.

I was responsible for pretty much everything you see, from the branding and design,
to the coding and the content. It’s now available online and for iPhone.

Check it out at Forsnowboarding™

This Week x Busy March 15th, 2009

I have a ton of work to keep up with for all the site re-launches I’m doing for the MP®,
but it looks like it’s all going to be winding down soon. The majority of everything will be
dropping before the end of this month, and it’s looking to be exciting.

New MSTRPLN® MP® iPhone Newsblog February 28th, 2009

Blacked Out Wrists x Nixon Watches January 23rd, 2009

Got a Nixon watch in the mail today.
It’s the all black Sentry model, with the rubber band.
I’m super stoked on this one, It’s like a sophisticated special-ops watch.
The kind of watch that Snake Eyes would probably floss to the GI.Joe Christmas party.

Necessary Motivation January 18th, 2009

Here’s some motivation to put everything in perspective.
After looking over some of the things that I have on my to-do list, I realized that
it’s already 2009. That’s one year before 2010 and by then it’s the fucking future.

Whatever it is that you have yet to do that’s always on the back of your mind,
do it now or else it will never happen.

Start it up and keep it moving.

Dope Gear I’m Feelin’: Nixon Headphones January 18th, 2009

I have always really been into the design of Nixon watches.
I’m currently rocking an esquire and am looking to add more to the collection.
The headphone range is new for 2009 and looks to be promising.
I haven’t had a chance to preview the audible quality of these in-ear earphones,
but the design and detail are spot-on.

Dope Gear I’m Feelin’: Bruxe Bags January 18th, 2009

I came across these bags on a trip to Off The Hook.
The perforated texture and the clean design is what really caught my attention.
It turns out that they are even Montreal based, which is cool to hear.
This brand is probably going to blow up so watch out!

More forsnowboarding™ News January 15th, 2009

MSTRPLN Essentials for Web Development November 28th, 2008

A follow up to my last post on productivity, this is what I use to get the
job done with website dev.

Panic’s Coda
I used to use BBEdit as my coding util until Coda came along. You can get everything sorted and
uploaded in the same pane. Definitely check this out if you haven’t already.

jQuery
You can achieve similar effects to flash with jQuery, it’s a great asset to have when you want to
create light dynamic content.

A List Apart
This site is a wealth of information when it comes to best practice for coding websites.

Tim Hortons Coffee
Beverage of choice in these situations. Canada’s best.

adidas ZX9000 Crooked Tongues November 28th, 2008

New sneakers in the mail today, The adidas AZX Crooked Tongues and
other goodies courtesy of UBIQ in Philly. These will be rocked hard!

MSTRPLN Essentials for Productivity November 25th, 2008

Some people were asking what my process is for taking care of all the
projects that I’m involved in.

Here’s a list of all the things that I use to stay on top of my game:

Mail.app
Probably the most used application by far.
I’m able to keep track of all my accounts and sync them with iCal as well.
If you have a mac use this.

iPhone/iPod Touch
I sync my iCal and tasks with this, and hop on Wi-Fi when needed for email.
It’s great for writing notes and keeping track of shit.

Moleskine Notebook
The analog version of the iPhone. Pen and paper can’t be beat.
I use a Moleskine agenda religiously alongside iCal.
It also makes you look like you know what you’re doing.

Things
I’ve been a fan of the GTD movement, but most of the apps are too
confusing. This one is pretty easy to use and seems to be working great.
It also syncs to the iPhone over Wi-Fi to keep it all together.

Forsnowboarding Teaser November 23rd, 2008

Just a teaser for a new snowboard venture that I’m working on.

MSTRPLN x The Warfare Collective September 24th, 2008

My good friend Chris from The Warfare Collective suggested that we keep our games sharp
by trading portraits and putting our respective spins on them.
I think it was a great exercise in style.

The top image is a portrait of Chris that I retouched, and right below that
is yours truly sketched up by him. Notice the flawless resemblance and
execution. That’s all pen!

ASRDâ„¢ Featured on G4TV September 13th, 2008

The ASRDâ„¢ shoes were featured this week on G4TV’s Attack of the Show, during a segment called “Sneaker Heads”.

If you missed the episode, you can catch the segment online over here.

MSTRPLN Getting Things Done iPhone Hack September 9th, 2008

If you have an iPhone, here is a simple yet effective way to stay on top of your game.
I find the “GTD” method of personal organization too complicated for everyday use,
Even if you have some to-do apps on your iPhone, forget about them, all you need to
do is create a new background in Photoshop with all of your to-do items for the day and
set it as the wallpaper on your Welcome screen. This is probably the most easily accessible
screen so it will always be in your face reminding you what you keep forgetting to do.

• Create a new document in Photoshop 320px x 480px
• Make sure that your to-do list is 130px from the top of the document
• Save and upload to the iPhone
• Set it as your wallpaper

(Bonus: you can even take a picture of a piece of paper with your to-do’s and set these
as your daily background).

The New Face of MSTRPLN September 4th, 2008

Working on some cosmetic changes to the look and feel of MSTRPLN.
Here’s a taste of what is to come.

Setting New Goals July 18th, 2008

Looking back over the last five years, I’ve noticed a steady progression for achievement in my career

as a designer. Most of the goals that I’ve set for myself have been accomplished, some still remain,
and some are being worked on at the moment.

Overall, it’s time to set some new goals and try to raise the bar a little bit more.
Nike has always been the number one client that I’d eventually like to do business with in some way,
shape or form down the road.

Let’s see what happens….
